Continuing his play with the ambiguous properties of artworks and human identities, Carter has taken on the bust form in the tradition it occupies between store mannequin and classic Greco-Roman sculpture.  Interested in reproduction and the way objects can substitute human presence and eventually act in the place of other objects, the artist collages quotations and re-enactments into new drawings, paintings and sculpture. Carter has exhibited internationally with recent exhibitions in New York, Paris, Vienna and London.

His film Erased James Franco 2009 was screened at the Tate Modern, NY MoMA, SFMoMA, and he is completing a second film, Maladies which features his crystal heads.
