Leo Bersamina
March 3 - 27, 2010
Opening Reception Thursday, March 11th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Gallery Paule Anglim is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Leo Bersamina.
The artist will present new gouache and egg tempera works on paper. In these images, Bersamina seeks to capture the fleeting moment in its perfection. In slowing time, isolating observed elements in a ‘present tense’, he allows his intuitive process to deliver the spontaneity of an observation, albeit in broken down visual fragments. This will be the artist’s fourth solo show at Gallery Paule Anglim.
Over twenty years of exhibitions, and as an MFA student at Yale, Bersamina has practiced a personal language cross-bred between photography, painting and sculpture. Many of his works ignore lines between disciplines: paintings and sculptures often employ photographs, while photography has been woven and sculptural, and in many instances painted.
