Gallery Paule Anglim is pleased to announce an exhibition of the works of BRUCE CONNER.

Representing over forty years of work, the exhibition will offer viewers examples of the artist’s remarkable creativity. Conner has become a central figure in the evolution of new media and unconventional art forms, providing contemporary art with radical and iconic approaches. From film, photography, painting, drawing and printmaking to found object/found media appropriations Conner’s unexpected drawings, sculptures, collages and assemblages defined an otherworldly state of consciousness.

The Gallery Paule Anglim presentation marks over twenty years of Conner shows and is dedicated to three focuses of exploration: drawings, painting and sculpture.

The gallery recently featured a group of large tapestries by Bruce Conner woven in Belgium under the supervision of Magnolia Editions. The tapestries represent a personal relationship to illustrations of the New and Old Testaments of the Bible. Woven in black and white, the tapestries offer another unique use of a traditional medium by this innovative and legendary artist.

Bruce Conner’s career marks an individualist’s path. He is a central figure in the evolution of new media and unconventional art forms. His creations in film, photography, drawing, sculpture and painting have surprised and opened perceptual doors since 1950.

Bruce Conner’s work was the focus of a touring exhibition, 2000 B.C.: The Bruce Conner Story Part II, organized at the Walker Art Center.
